Alright, so I’ve got a confession to make. I used to be a complete hamster-newbie. I remember the first time I brought my little furball home, I was so excited to feed him all sorts of treats.

I had visions of him chomping on carrots and apples, maybe even a little bit of cheese. But then I saw the bag of nuts in my pantry and thought, “Hey, why not? Hamsters love to gnaw on things, right?”

Well, let’s just say my little guy didn’t take too kindly to the nuts. In fact, he barely touched them. And I couldn’t figure out why. I mean, they’re packed with protein and healthy fats, right?

The answer is yes and no. You can give your hamster nuts, but they should be given in moderation and only as an occasional treat.
