What I wish I knew before getting a hamster?

Hey there! It’s your boy, Matt, coming at ya from the sunshine state of Florida. Today, I wanted to share a little bit about my experience with my hamster, Jerry.

If you’re considering getting a hamster, or just want to learn more about these cute little critters, then you might find my story amusing.

What I wish I knew before getting a hamster?

Looking back, there are a few things I wish I knew before getting Jerry. For one, I didn’t realize how fast they could run.

I mean, seriously, these little guys can haul butt. It’s kind of hilarious, but also a little frustrating when you’re trying to catch them. Trust me, you’ll want to get a hamster ball if you get one of these guys.

Another thing I wish I knew is how much they like to chew. Jerry is always gnawing on something – his water bottle, his food dish, even his cage. It can get a little annoying at times, but I guess it’s just part of being a hamster owner. Just be prepared to buy a lot of chew toys, and maybe invest in a sturdy cage.

What should I know before getting a hamster?

There are a few other things you should know before getting a hamster. For one, they’re nocturnal, which means they’re most active at night.

This can be a little annoying if you’re a light sleeper, but it’s just something you have to get used to. Just try to make sure their cage is in a place where they won’t disturb you too much.

Another thing to consider is that they’re not exactly the most affectionate pets. Don’t get me wrong, they can be cute and all, but they’re not exactly cuddly like a cat or a dog. They’re more independent, which can be good or bad, depending on what you’re looking for in a pet. Just be prepared for that.

What is the weakest reason for getting a pet hamster?

I’ve heard some pretty weak reasons for getting a pet hamster, to be honest. I once knew someone who got one because they thought it would be “cool” to have a pet.

I mean, seriously? A pet is a big responsibility, not something you get just because you think it’s cool. Don’t get a hamster (or any pet, for that matter) unless you’re willing to take care of it and make a commitment to it.

Are hamsters unhappy in cages?

Some people might think that hamsters are unhappy in cages, but I don’t really think that’s the case. Sure, they need plenty of room to run around and play, but as long as you give them a nice, spacious cage and plenty of toys and things to do, they should be happy.

Just make sure to let them out to play every day, and they’ll be fine.

Are hamsters annoying at night?

Like I mentioned earlier, hamsters are nocturnal, which means they’re most active at night. This can be a little annoying if you’re a light sleeper, but it’s just something you have to get used to.

Just try to make sure their cage is in a place where they won’t disturb you too much.

Do hamsters need a house to sleep in?

Hamsters do need a place to sleep, but they don’t necessarily need a house specifically for that purpose. As long as they have a nice, cozy spot in their cage where they can curl up and snooze, they should be fine.

Some hamsters might like a little house or tunnel to sleep in, but others might prefer a soft, fluffy bed. It really just depends on the individual hamster.

One thing you should definitely provide for your hamster, though, is a good, high-quality bedding.

Hamsters are prone to respiratory issues, so you want to make sure their bedding is soft, dust-free, and safe for them to sleep on. You should also change their bedding regularly to keep it fresh and clean.

In any case, those are just a few things I wish I knew before getting Jerry and a few things you should consider if you’re thinking of getting a hamster.

They’re cute and fun little pets, but they do require some care and attention. Just be prepared for that, and you’ll be a great hamster owner in no time!
